Pray for Bures School governors meeting today. Pray for
unity, wisdom and common sense. Thank God for our
village school and pray for all the staff and pupils,
particularly head Christine Furniss. |

Candelmas – Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. Dear
God, we celebrate and thank you for the day baby Jesus
was presented in the Temple. May we ourselves be
presented to you with pure, clean hearts by the same
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen |

Pray for the Bures Youth Club meeting every Friday
evening. Thank God for leaders Cath Brown and Andrea
Carter. Ask God to give them wisdom as they lead youth
work. Ask for more leaders with a heart for young
people to come forward. |

Pray for vicar Robin as he leads the Alpha course. Ask
God to give his wisdom and discernment to help everyone
on the course to deepen their faith. |

5 |
3 rd Sunday before Lent.
Pray for the Benefice Communion service this morning.
Pray that God will draw us all to worship and pray in
church today, especially those who struggle to make the
decision for God but really want to know Him more. |

Pray for this evening’s ‘Living with Loss’ bereavement
support group. Pray that everyone is finding it a
really helpful and comforting time, and making friends. |
|
7 |
Pray for all the house groups, especially the Baptist
Church groups meeting today and tomorrow, that God guide
all who are leading and that the groups be used by Him
to increase our faith, our knowledge of the Bible and
our love for one another. |
|
8 |
Pray for Assington PCC meeting today. Ask God to bless
the village and church of Assington, and that many more
people there will come to know Him. |
|
9 |
Pray for Bures PCC this evening. Pray that everyone
will attend the first half-hour of prayer if they can.
Ask God for unity, vision and purpose, and for open ears
to hear His direction. |

Pray for half term, for the protection and safety of all
children, and for a time of refreshment for all school
staff. Ask God that children whose parents are out at
work will have proper care. |

11 |
Pray for the Alpha course. Ask God to protect and speak
to everyone doing the course. May they have the courage
to ask difficult questions without embarrassment. |

2nd Sunday before Lent.
Pray for Andrew Clifft and the ‘2nd Sunday’
service in the school hall this morning. Pray that many
families will come and enjoy this informal time in God’s
presence and be able to make this a regular occasion. |

Pray for ‘Take a Break’ the Monday coffee morning at the
Baptist Church hall, for a time of friendship and
encouragement for everyone who attends. |
|

Thank God for the magazine editor Sue Ryman. Pray for
her as she organizes and assembles the copy for the next
issue. |

Pray for the short service of Morning Prayer and ‘Open
Door’ coffee morning held every Wednesday in church.
Ask God to use this time to develop friendships and
mutual support among everyone who attends. |

Pray for God’s presence and guidance at the Little
Cornard PCC this evening. Thank God for this lovely
church and the contribution it makes to the diversity of
our benefice. |

Pray for Tweens group 10-13 year olds meeting in the
Baptist Church hall this evening, for a very good but
very calm time. |
|
|
Also pray for the Youth Club which follows, again for a
very happy time. Pray for leaders Cath Brown and Andrea
Carter, for wisdom and a love of the young people.
Continue to pray for more leaders to help. |

Pray for the Olympic Games, that they will be a blessing
to our nation and to world concord. Ask God for
protection from any paganism and that the Olympic torch
will be to us a symbol of the Holy Spirit passing
through the nation. |

Sunday before Lent.
Thank God for the E100 (100 essential Bible readings)
which are now coming to their conclusion. Pray that
this ‘taster’ course will have given everyone an
increased enthusiasm for studying the Bible and also
encouraged them to commit time to reading it regularly
and to prayer. |

20 |
Pray for the Baptist Church house groups meeting
tomorrow and Wednesday, and for all the other groups.
Ask God to protect the time so that all group members
can make as regular a commitment to their group as
possible. |
|
21 |
Shrove Tuesday. Ask God to show us how to fast this
Lent, and that it will be a time of increasing
spirituality for us all. |
|
22 |
Ash Wednesday.
Dearest Lord, the God of all mercy, we ask that we will
have a real sense of your deep love for us, sending your
Son Jesus to die for our sins. You forgive the sins of
all who are penitent; this Lent give us truly contrite
hearts so that we may receive perfect forgiveness and a
new beginning. Amen |

Pray for ‘Stepping Stones’ pre-school group meeting in
church this afternoon, for Katharine, Becky Amos and
everyone involved. Pray that the children will have a
great time being introduced to Jesus and learning to be
relaxed and happy in church. |

Pray for the Youth Club this evening. Ask God to work
amongst the young people of our parish, to help them
through the difficult and complicated adolescent years. |
|
25 |
Pray for Iliya Marinov from our link church, the
Friendship Church in Russe, Bulgaria, studying at Bible
College in Sussex. Ask God to bless and protect him. |

Lent 1.
Pray for Daniel and Emelia Nalbantski, leaders of the
Friendship Church. Pray for their protection and that
of all their family. Pray God will supply all their
needs and use them powerfully to spread the gospel. |

Pray for everyone on the Alpha course, that their faith
and confidence will grow and they will joyfully receive
the Holy Spirit. |
|

Pray for ‘Footsteps’ mothers’ and toddlers’ group which
meets every Tuesday morning, for this to be a helpful
and happy time for them all. |

Today is an Ember Day which used to be a day of fasting
and self-examination. Let us use some time today to
pause and think and thank God for what he is doing in
our lives. |
